Goodbye, 2009.

A meme was floating around twitter earlier today…

Wow, has it been 10 years, already? Let’s fast forward to 2009, the year I…

  • Turned 32.
  • Vacationed in Hawaii! I love you, Hawaii.
  • Snorkled, for the first time ever.
  • Was asked for my hand in marriage.
  • Bought a brand new car, then scratched it up like a good San Franciscan should.
  • Expanded my music collection: A Sunny Day in Glasgow, Cut Copy, Rumskib and Panda Riot (to name a few…)
  • Listened to Poker Face for close to a month, nonstop. I love you, Lady Gaga.
  • Married here in California, exactly 6 months to the day that we got engaged, after only 4 months of planning.
  • Learned how to better manage my stress and rediscovered my path toward wellness thanks to my kick ass uber Acupuncturist/Chinese Herbalist (I swear by Eastern medicine).
  • Gave myself another last name. Er, M did. Now I’ve got two!
  • Road tripped from San Francisco to Portland during an impromptu Honeymoon. I love you, Oregon.
  • Acquired a Droid. Goodbye, Blackberry.

Granted, there were a few boo-hiss moments, many of which I can look back on and laugh. Like…

  • I was found guilty and fined $436 for accidentally running a red light with a camera attached to it (oops).
  • I quit my gym membership and bought an elliptical, then messed up my knee immediately thereafter.
  • I had to visit the Emergency Room the day before my wedding.
  • I made my first-ever call to poison control after the cat tried to kill me.
  • Wedding planning.

Happy New Year!

Oh, where did I put that hubby? Hmph. Maybe he’s underneath the cat?

Breakfast of Champions

December 13th, 2009 comments 3

For me, it’s a toasted poppy seed bagel with cream cheese covered in bits of smoked salmon, a glass of orange juice and a mug of hot black coffee. I stocked up on gluten-free bagels (and a yummy apple cranberry pie) during a recent visit to the Mariposa gluten-free bakery up in Oakland. M and I each sampled a slice of their pizza during our stop which was heavenly. M, who would eat pizza every day if I let him, couldn’t even tell that it was sans gluten. Perfect, we’ll take them all. Snaps for Mariposa.

Paxton Gate

I love love love Paxton Gate. M and I popped by their holiday sale/party last Saturday evening on our way to our friends’ holiday party in the Mission. They don’t allow photography, but people were drinking free wine around fragile items so I figured a few camera phone shots would be harmless. I have a hard time describing the shop to those that have never been. Let’s just say it’s beautiful, odd and inspirational… and conveniently located to another favorite, the Pirate store.

Crafty, Not

I assembled a modest holiday wreath from a pile of our tree clippings. It won my award for the Most Boring Craft ever. Seriously, it took a week for me to find the motivation to finish this stupid thing.

That Green Thing

December 1st, 2009 comments 4

What’s it called?

You know, that green waste-of-plastic used to keep a hot beverage from shooting out its top (and onto your freshly washed jeans while riding the office shuttle bus that possess no suspension whatsoever).

Where am I?
