We stopped by the new place on Sunday to pick up the keys, then spent about 2 hours in the new digs planning and plotting the move. Matty isn’t a minimalist, like me, so we’ve been spending a lot of time making compromises. Yes, because I love you, you may keep that three legged chair, the broken picture frame, and all those books you’ll never read again, Mr. Sanford and Son, but I would like to pick out the linens for the guest bathroom… So far so good.
I brought the camera along to take some “before” shots, however I only had the macro lens in my bag, which is probably the last lens you’d want to use shooting an interior. Ah well. The above shot is of Matty attempting to fix a latch on our greenhouse window. And look! It’s a lemon tree!
I found someone to take over the remaining 6 months of my current lease almost within moments (OK, a few days) after I signed my new lease. Cool, eh? My soon-to-be-old landlord said that I’ll get my security deposit back by next week (a big chunk of change), and my new landlord said we could pick up our keys and start moving (a week early) tomorrow. Score!
Next on the list of to-dos: buy all new household stuff (we don’t own any furniture, or things like plates), get everything hooked up, watch the Sabre’s (it’s hockey season!), pack… all while entertaining my sister (she’ll be here on Tuesday), moving all the big stuff that we do have (on the 1st), figuring out what to be for Halloween, and preparing for Vitamin Party’s second CD release show, next Friday night. Phew. It’s going to be a crazy week.
Matty was full of surprises on our anniversary last Friday night, which included this beautiful bouquet of sunflowers (my favorite). Unfortunately, the flora brought along some fauna.
Lately the weather has been beautiful and warm in these parts. I’ve got a hunch that it’s going to be a take an extended lunch/sneak out early kind of day. Oh, happy weekend!
We drove down to Santa Barbara for our friend’s wedding this past weekend. We didn’t have a lot of time to explore the area, which is fine since it was a little too Southern Californian for us. The wedding was a lot of fun and ¡el alimento era muy delicioso!
All the good vibes paid off and I’m (read: very) happy to announce that our application was accepted. Last night we signed the lease and handed over a big check so that starting November 1st, this place will be ours:
Well, half of it anyway. And no, the car is not included. Darn.
