Macro

In honor of my one-year anniversary, I bought myself a new lens. I'm finally back in my element.

... and more.

Is it Saturday, yet?

I have no desire for this work thing, this week. I just want to go home, read my book, drink some coffee, and look good.

Lovefest 2008

Like a bad Burning Man flashback, the Lovefest squad paraded slowly (and very audibly) throughout the streets of downtown San Francisco this past Saturday afternoon. Oh the glitter, oh the flashing lights, oh the unrelenting techno music! We caught a quick glimpse while walking along Market street on our way to the Ferry Terminal...

The waiting game

Please direct some good vibes thisaway. Many thanks!

A worthy cause, I suppose

Soon to be Glen Park

All the good vibes paid off and I'm (read: very) happy to announce that our application was accepted. Last night we signed the lease and handed over a big check so that starting November 1st, this place will be ours:

Well, half of it anyway. And no, the car is not included. Darn.

Fall in San Francisco is...

pretty blah. Forget all the bright yellows, oranges and reds -- the leaves (in these parts) go straight from green to dead.

At leave (ha, an unintended pun typo) least we've got a very blue sky going for us!

Santa Barbara

We drove down to Santa Barbara for our friend's wedding this past weekend. We didn't have a lot of time to explore the area, which is fine since it was a little too Southern Californian for us. The wedding was a lot of fun and ¡el alimento era muy delicioso!

Summer-like

Lately the weather has been beautiful and warm in these parts. I've got a hunch that it's going to be a take an extended lunch/sneak out early kind of day. Oh, happy weekend!

Inside and outside

October 21, 2008

I've got a spot cleared underneath my desk for...

Update:

"Should we go under our desks?"

"I dunno. I'll do it if you do it."

"I don't really want to get dirty."

"Yeah."

"If there's an earthquake, I'm jumping out this window!"

"Gah, getting up from a crunched up position is too hard."

"Well if no one else is going to do it..."

We're doomed.

Ready to get my vote on

One-year

Matty was full of surprises on our anniversary last Friday night, which included this beautiful bouquet of sunflowers (my favorite). Unfortunately, the flora brought along some fauna.

Falling into place

I found someone to take over the remaining 6 months of my current lease almost within moments (OK, a few days) after I signed my new lease. Cool, eh? My soon-to-be-old landlord said that I'll get my security deposit back by next week (a big chunk of change), and my new landlord said we could pick up our keys and start moving (a week early) tomorrow. Score!

Next on the list of to-dos: buy all new household stuff (we don't own any furniture, or things like plates), get everything hooked up, watch the Sabre's (it's hockey season!), pack... all while entertaining my sister (she'll be here on Tuesday), moving all the big stuff that we do have (on the 1st), figuring out what to be for Halloween, and preparing for Vitamin Party's second CD release show, next Friday night. Phew. It's going to be a crazy week.

3 Days

We stopped by the new place on Sunday to pick up the keys, then spent about 2 hours in the new digs planning and plotting the move. Matty isn't a minimalist, like me, so we've been spending a lot of time making compromises. Yes, because I love you, you may keep that three legged chair, the broken picture frame, and all those books you'll never read again, Mr. Sanford and Son, but I would like to pick out the linens for the guest bathroom... So far so good.

I brought the camera along to take some "before" shots, however I only had the macro lens in my bag, which is probably the last lens you'd want to use shooting an interior. Ah well. The above shot is of Matty attempting to fix a latch on our greenhouse window. And look! It's a lemon tree!
