Hearst Castle

A hilltop mansion built by William Randolph Hearst, located in San Simeon (about 250 miles South of San Francisco). I've been to the castle once before, back in the Summer of 2005. I returned for a second visit this past Friday (the 4th) and it took my breath away, again. It's definitely a California must-see. Go!

Pam:

I have been there too and fell in love with the castle. Unfortunately the day of my visit was cloudy and gray. Not only did that take away from the picturesque-ness of everything there, but it caused the auto-flash on my camera to flash without warning and the tour guide nazi yelled at me for using a flash camera and possibly ruining the delicate artwork and statues. I hate how that's what I remember most about the visit.

Flash without warning ... hee hee...

Pam:

Hey, there's the link to the URL for my *new* blog!

Woah. That is some place! The pool pic is so cool!

P: I got yelled at on my first visit for "going ahead of the group." I'm sorry, but I found the dining room, booooring! Pretty smoke filled this last time -- made it tough to get in any ocean view shots.

A: it's an awesome place -- I highly recommend it!

LOVE these photos, Kirsten. It's been on my list of places to visit for quite some time. Maybe next year we'll tack it onto a trip to LA/San Fran/NoCa.

Alexa: You should! and it's really easy to get to while driving up to LA from San Fran (or vice versa).
